LIGHT BOX
The material palette here was unlike anything in our prior experience — commercial storefront glazing, zinc panel cladding, assemblies not in any playbook we had used. So we built our own.
We sourced samples, studied each material, and figured out how to install it correctly in a coastal environment. Zinc, as we discovered, is self-healing: scratch the surface and it oxidizes, sealing itself. From Dune Road, the house reads as a monolithic, private object. From the rear, it opens completely to the water — form angled to maximize the view while screening the neighbor to the east. This project launched our relationship with Barnes Coy, one that would define much of the decade that followed.
